GODYSSEY: The Initiation of Naran Stalwart
Naran Stalwart is a young, introverted scientist who lives on logic and breathes facts. She has a promising career as a biochemist. Her evenings are spent lounging on her sofa with her dog Luna, watching Netflix. Her world is perfectly controlled, comfortable, and predictable, much like the experiments in her lab—just the way she likes it.
Imagine Naran's surprise when she's invited by the Didelians, a mysterious and secretive culture, to be their apprentice.
The Didelians surfaced after World War II, and though nobody knows who they are or where they came from, one thing is clear: they are not like other humans. They travel the globe with a massive stone arena, performing magical shows for which tickets are sold in a highly sought-after raffle. The Didelians don’t communicate with anyone outside their camp, yet suddenly they seem intent on teaching Naran about their ancient magic practices.
The only problem is… Naran, a rational scientist, doesn’t believe in magic.
But when Naran discovers that the Didelian invitation is rooted in secrets her family has withheld from her—secrets that tie her to this mysterious group—she has no choice but to accept the apprenticeship. The moment she does, her comfortable, predictable world is turned upside down.
Guided by Kai, the charismatic Didelian man assigned to be her mentor, Naran enters an unpredictable and exhilarating existence full of surreal magic that transports her outside the realm of human possibilities. Naran is confronted with unexpected lessons about her deepest desires and fears. Her rational plans and her perception of who she thought she was are thrown into a tailspin.
As Naran uncovers perennial wisdom from ancient times, visits the Didelian Tree of Life, and learns that human history is not what she thought it was, she begins to realize that the stakes of completing her training are much higher than she ever could have imagined. While natural disasters, rapid climate change, and unexpected adversaries threaten her initiation, Naran must also navigate her complicated relationship with Kai, whose own struggles and forbidden attraction to her only add to the tension.
Caught between the world she knows and the one she’s only beginning to understand, Naran must decide: will she cling to the logic that has always guided her, or can she embrace a magical dimension that could reshape everything—including herself?
